ST GEORGE PLC who are developing THE TOWER on NINE ELMS LANE and in so doing are still putting nearby users of the adjacent roadways and pavements in serious danger have so far done zero to remove the dangers detailed on this blog - HERE - just a week or three ago. Lambeth Council were due to report back to local MP KATE HOEY by 25 November but as of yesterday had still failed to do so. The Council had made representations to TRANSPORT FOR LONDON and HOEY was given to understand that TFL on 11 November had already started drafting a response but so far nothing at all has materialised. HOEY is not alone in having raised the concerns, so too has ISHBEL BROWN the local LIB DEM Lambeth Vauxhall Councillor. She too is being kept in the dark so to speak but is continuing to pursue the matter. The VAUXHALL SOCIETY publicised concerns - HERE - about the highlighted DANGERS.

ST GEORGE PLC and the BERKELEY GROUP are hoping to turn NINE ELMS into an upmarket Knightsbridge Chelsea scene - see HERE. They certainly would never have got away with endangering the nearby road users and pedestrians in the manner they have at NINE ELMS had THE TOWER been under construction in Brompton Road or Sloan Street, Knightsbridge.

Local Lambeth's Senior Police Commander has been informed about the problem - which police ought to have sussed themselves from their patrols but hadn't of course - but so far no response of any obvious value whatever has been forthcoming.

After being in the business for over a century THE POLICE REVIEW has this month shut up shop. The PR has published the weekly REVIEW and additionally has also published book length volumes. With the recent Court procedings very much in the news currently which highlight the case of DENZEL CASSIUS HARVEY who used the F word a couple of times when being searched by police who found nothing on him - and the appeal JUDGE BEAN chucking out the case against him because expletives were so common place, a lot of debate is now taking place in the media about the pros and cons of swearing especially in relation to police operations. And HERE'S the current MET COMMISSIONER also throwing in his two pence worth. This blogger over quite a lot of years now has had occasion to take an interest in policing and it required doing a fair old amount of reading - including of course media reports and police tomes of many kinds. From these endeavours it was impossible not to have discerned that police can be and often are extremely foul mouthed. This does not mean that they all eff and blind at everyone they encounter - of course they do not. But socially they are well known to be very foul mouthed and they are certainly extremely foul mouthed off the record so to speak even while going about their duties.

Over the many years of my endeavours re sussing cop ops and whatever the most foul mouthed book I ever read was the above volume YANKEE ONE AND GEORGE by DAVE BRADY a cop who was in on the April 1974 cop chase to arrest those who had robbed the LONDON ELECTRICITY BOARD payroll at Ilford. None of the robbers were apprehended during the actual chase although GEORGE DAVIS was subsequently and was fitted-up. The story is briefly told in wikipedia HERE and this blog has had historical items too - HERE and HERE.

The BRADY book (1984) was celebratory because DAVIS had been nicked again good and proper bang to rights on a bank robbery - he'd been hob nobbing socially with cops and they well knew the robbery was all set to go off so there they were ready to move in - see THE WARS OF ROSIE by ROSE DAVIS (2009). DAVIS was much less worthy than very many of those who'd originally campaigned for him.

Anyway the BRADY tome makes it clear on page after page after page that he and his co cops were extremely foul mouthed while on police patrols going about their business and certainly in the GEORGE DAVIS 1974 era. Expletives about each other as well as about those whom they are after absolutely litter page after page. It was astonishing that such an absolutely foul mouthed police tome should have been published by POLICE REVIEW. The politics had dictated that they should publish, the stakes were too high to miss a trick and not hit back at the GEORGE DAVIS IS INNOCENT OK! campaign. Cops, so accustomed to swearing their heads off, oughtn't to be too offended when they hear a four letter expletive - they are using them all the time on and off duty - it seems to matter not.

CRAIG MURRAY SHEDS TOO DIM A LIGHT ON JOHN BRIGHT & Co.

CRAIG MURRAY not a bad geezer is giving a 19th century Lancashire politician a spot hero worship - you can clock his hero worship blogspot HERE. BRIGHT was a free trader along with RICHARD COBDEN and various of their other other contemporaries. Of course the Free Traders were ape-shit crazy to repeal the Tory Corn Laws. Their politiking came to something of a head back in 1842 and they and some of their closest were doing lots to foment unrest and industrial action ... especially Up North.

There was some widespread industrial action and resultant disorders and in the Northern Areas where Bright and Co., held quite a lot of sway. There was a geat deal of contemporary Government concern about policing and how to cope if things got bad - as indeed they did. The central Government Home Dept concern - well one of the BIG concerns - was how could Tory appointed top cop officials in the industrial north cope with policing problems in those areas where pro free trade manufacturing and increasingly politically significant characters, could and were influencing the growth of disorders and associated rhetoric. It was BIG law and order polemics such as came about IN THIS ERA that probably greatly influnced the long term thereafter so that political elected police chiefs never became the UK way of doing things - well that is until this current 21st Century well-below-the-belt CAMERON CLEGG outfit have just lately introduced them.

PLUG PLOT RIOTS of 1842

Anyway back to Bright, Cobden and Co. and the 1842 PLUG PLOT/RIOT events. Very curious that the only people who faced criminal prosecution resulting from the 1842 disorders were Chartists altho' the Free Traders - who included B and C who were scrutinised officially to see if they might be worth charging. The then Tory hierachy cried off trying that on their cases even though it was very widely known and recognised that BRIGHT etc had done a fair amount of overtime to foment disatisfaction and unrest. JAMES MILL - AND THE ART OF REVOLUTION gave a taster for the so-called Great Reform Bill agitations of 1832 and things got more extremely manipulated to buggery a decade or so later - however the only folks who got nicked and put on trial were 60 plus CHARTISTS - SEE HERE. WARNING - be very careful browsing this blogspot as you might get run over - I kid you not. Its obviously been like it for quite some time now and looked well set to continue. ST GEORGE PLC clearly doesn't have a very high regard for public safety judgeing by the way it has almost totally done away with paving for pedestrians at its NINE ELMS LANE "TOWER PROJECT" site. You could easily be forgiven for concluding that ST GEORGE PLC is TOWERING IN THE GUTTER given its blatant disregard for pedestrians and others in the immediate vicinity of its NINE ELMS LANE construction site. Just a residue of 17 inches of kerbing and paving combined is now available to accomodate those on foot happening 24/7 (including rush hour) to be passing in the immediate vicinity. It's a RED ROUTE too - not officially designated thus to accomodate spilt pedestrian blood methinks. The photographs speak for themselves. An OLYMPIAN dilema for passing women with children, the elderly or indeed whoever should be unlucky enough to have to pass in the immediate vicinity. -------------------

I'd just had an East Street Market mushroom omelette with salad including chopped beetroot and a large tea. The shop owner didn't call DAVID CAMERON to kick-in with an urgent anti squatting law - oh no he smiled and it really made my day. We laughed together. For the record I am confident that this was a one off circumstance which the shopkeeper but briefly tolerated of course he could not allow it to be long term - in its brevity however it was rare and very heartening.

It's been a long haul - about four years - in fact much much longer - to get Hyde to take any notice of the misuse of the estate as a public toilet. The tree's are those behind the NILE CAFE which have been frequently hitherto used as a public convenience. 'Course the misuse of the estate has largely come about because LAMBETH COUNCIL like many many many London wide Councils closed local public toilets to cut budgets on the quiet. But up until very very recently Hyde had done pretty well nothing to resolve the problem - meetings with its staff in early 2010 - SEE HERE - were a disappointing waste of time. This latest - INDEED FIRST EVER - tree pruning exercise could all be down to an ongoing ding dong between this blogger and Hyde's disappointing MANAGING DIRECTOR, JAN TARANCZUK - (JT). More on this in due course. "JT" was a touch unhappy (understatement) because this blogger had recently had the temerity to criticise DAVID "LACKING" LACKEY the uncommunicative CHAIR of STUDLEY ESTATE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION (SERA). Affixing notices on HYDE PROPERTY without first obtaining permission to do so it regards as ANTI SOCIAL BAHAVIOUR which warrants investigation etc., In central STOCKWELL repeated teenage murders have recently occured. Currently "improvement" is anything but the predominant trend. All three of the above fotos were made today on the paved public CENTRAL STOCKWELL area to the fore of RICHARDSON COURT. What the actual HYDE "street scene" improvements are remains a mystery.

Trapesing from Liberty Street through the back doubles during the late Forties and early Fifties to eyeball Saturday morning cowboy flics at the then Granada Cinema Wandworth Road us kids sometimes had to survive hassle en route from other local yoof on nearby estates. We survived - none of us ended up brown bread. If we instead went to Saturday morning flics at the Stockwell Ritz we fared better (hassle wise). Would the police or prosecuting authorites play devious DNA evidence games? There must be possibilities if a prosecution might fail if they disclosed DNA evidence that might result in a non conviction. Take the DAVIS CASE which was manipulated re police forensic evidence - there was evidence found at the scene of the crime but it was suppressed because for police to have admitted it would have pointed to Davis's innocence.

UP AGAINST THE LAW (UPAL) Magazine (August 1975)

containing a 23 page detailed researched analysis of the

GEORGE DAVIS FIT-UP. It was and remains the best ever

publicly made available account of the actual case - and was written

by this blogger who at that time was a full time member of the

UPAL FIGHT-BACK POLITICAL COLLECTIVE .

In May 1976 just two years into a 20 year sentence

GEORGE DAVIS released - but not declared innocent.

When East End Mini Cab Driver GEORGE DAVIS got sent to prison for armed robbery etc., back in the mid Seventies - see HERE - he did not know details of certain evidence that police had that could have prevented his conviction but which police had kept secret - there were also other abuses of process but the suppressed evidence has now come to light - see HERE - even though DAVIS was freed in May 1976 altho' not declared innocent. So he has always had the conviction on his record - which included attempted murder of a cop which he did not actually do. Today his Appeal Court legal representatives stressed when the Appeal began that the evidence suppressed by the police for all these years was an extremely grave wrong doing.

The Appeal is not yet concluded. However it is interesting in the light of the above to look back at another case in which it transpired in December 2003 that police evidence of an extremely corrupt nature if true was suppressed by police for over 20 years resulting in 2 men serving that period in prison for murders which had it been disclosed at the time of their 1980 prosecution would not have led to their convictions, and being given life sentences of imprisonment.

The two men in question - Harry MacKenney and Terry Pinfold were convicted of a series of alleged gangland killings - separated in time and circumstance - and no bodies etc were produced in evidence. They were convicted on the word of a supergrass who was an associate of theirs.

At the Appeal Court in 2003 after 21 years inside, protesting their innocence, evidence was sworn that helped lead to their release. The evidence - see HERE - came from an ex CID officer who back in the late Seventies had wanted to investigate the circumstances of the disappearence of one of the victims whose murder MacKenney and Pinfold had been accused of and convicted of. This ex cop's December 2003 testimony informed the Court that he was warned off doing any such investigations - that he was told by a senior CID officer that the murdered person was actually still alive - not dead - and that if he did continue to investigate there would be almighty problems for the CID etcetera and indeed that it would be they that would end up inside.

So this important information of police corruption was suppressed on all sides for 20 years plus and this includes even by the ex-officer who'd kept it quiet and had got away with it - so much for police accountability. So far as is known known publicly - altho MacKenney and Pinfold were released after 21 years inside - no cops were ever prosecuted etc., for this seemingly incredible police malfunction.

The GEORGE DAVIS appeal turning largely on knowingly suppressed evidence by the police for 35 years brings the late Seventies separate MacKenney and Pinfold Case to mind.

Hey presto lo and behold today we read that ancient Britons - here - were cannibals alas, and used human skulls as drinking vessels! Religions sanitise the past - as I contended last summer on my Sicilian travels when cornered by a POLIZZI GENEROSA "believer". Would I like to participate in an organised pilgrimage walk to a local mountainside church - see here - which walk would extinguish - if I confessed them - my past sins? I had none which I wanted to confess so no. I instead requested that they take on board that I'd totally prefer for God or The Pope to somehow arrange things so that at my age now I did not get tired on making my mountain journeys on foot. Put in writing my above alternative request sure extinguished their interest in my continued participation.

Anyways back to Vauxhall Civic Society, Picking Up the Pieces (accepting responsibility) and Dennis Nilsen at Chelsea Bridge. And to Professor Andrew Saint's talk on 15th February re the SURVEY OF LONDON which touched upon Nine Elms and the riverside areas. Including Battersea - as the promotional publicity - here - had advised. Indeed in his interesting and very well illustrated talk Prof. Saint even recommended visiting Nine Elms Sunday Morning Flea Market - maybe unaware that relatively recently the said Market has become significantly depleted by comparison to how it thrived less than a year ago.

Of course the riverside embankment areas in the vicinity of nearby CHELSEA BRIDGE within full view of Nine Elms Power Station - much mentioned by Prof. Saint - has significantly changed in the past decade or so particularly with the construction of the luxury apartment blocks at the southside bridge embankments. In the early Nineties a Sunday morning attraction adjacent to the Bridge was BUNGEE JUMPING which said activity quite by chance occasioned a visit by an observer who equally by chance happened to be reading "KILLING FOR COMPANY" an account of the life up to the mid 1980's of convicted serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Although it is an extremely unhappy book it also curiously discussed his professional activities as a Police Officer and subsequently a local Government Officer - and in both capacities serial killing aside he was credited with having performed his responsibilities conscientiously. These aspects of his background helped to encourage interest in his doings given the appaling propensities he also had which led him to commit his incredibly gruesome series of murders.

So Sunday morning Bungee Jumping is in full swing (no pun intended) on a summery Chelsea Bridge morning with an observer present amid the calling out and screaming who happened to be reading "KILLING FOR COMPANY". Of course such reading isn't everybody's cup of tea (understatement) but that said not everyone can abstain - as with all incredibly and gravely difficult unfortunate happenings there are those with responsibilities who as it were absolutely have to "pick up the pieces".

The above poem "DENNIS NILSEN AT CHELSEA BRIDGE" which in part very significantly evolved from that Chelsea Bridge Bungee Jump occasion went on to occasion even further trauma. To properly understand the content of the poem one would need to have read of the incredibly macabre and deeply crazed and weird introspections of Nilsen detailed - so far as they reasonably could be - in the volume. They involved Nilsen's amazingly macabre introspective use of mirrors, and curiously - in the immediate vicinity of the Bungy Jump - items of 2nd hand collectables were being sold on Sunday mornings!!

The poem touches on Nilsen's imagined introspections, on his self doubt, on his utter alienation and the sheer brutality and inhumanity of the behaviours in which he indulged - which in addition to murder included gruesome victim dismemberments and secret burials. At the time of the visit the author of the poem had been a sometime member of the LONDON VOICES POETRY WORKSHOP but that poem effectively closed off that continued participation. Its content was deemed to be too brutal and off-putting - exhibit such a poem said LVPW and no one will come near our workshops! So much for "picking up the pieces" by LVPW!! Of course it is NOT an easy poem but it is one that was graphically born out of passing events as they played on the imagination, in part as a direct result of that Chelsea Bridge Sunday Morning Bungee Jumping visit. Of course Bunjee Jumping of itself has extremely fearful undercurrents which are very obvious.

In the Nineties - alas now no more - we had the amazingly free and open-minded BRIXTON POETS GROUP - we had a lovely unique rule to stop endless repetitions - namely that the same poem is not to be read twice. However you always otherwise read whatever you wanted. Steve Micalef''s beautiful poem VAMPIRES SUCK PUSS! - here - is already posted on this blog. If only life was 100 percent vanilla

A few months ago when 2 cycles were stollen from the SAINSBURY's bike rack at SAINSBURY'S NINE ELMS (so-called) SUPER STORE its in-store "security" staff refused point blank to call police telling its 2 unfortunate customers - this blogger being one of them - that they would not be prepared to phone police to assist - you can find the narrative details >>> HERE <<<.

Mostly Sainsbury's staff do a good enough job but there are moments when things are disappointing to say the least. Today was yet another such disappointing occasion.

A customer purchased one bag of carrots and a copy of todays TIMES newspaper - as if Matthew Parris inside THE TIMES crudely boasting of his punk era letter-writing past as part of MAGGIE THATCHER's P R team wasn't enough - unforgettable TIMES correspondent old Henry Root must have crapped big time in his shroud today.

Anyway one proceded to one of Sainsbury's staffed checkout cash tills - placed the above photographed 2 item items on the counter immediately next to the cash register scanner and the assistant (so called) totally refused to scan either of them unless the customer not her picked up one of them and actually placed it on top of the cash till scanner! For absolutely no good reason she was adamant that she herself not perfom that small task.

At "customer services" - so-called - there was, they said, no manager available and soonish instead there appeared a member fo staff who verbally identified himself as a supervisor. The above short cash till episode was outlined to him - he expressed momentary surprise and shock, apologised and stated that the member of staff "ought not to have so behaved". He said he would speak to that staff member and went off in the opposite direction ... to meander near other check outs. He had not scrutinised who the negligent member of staff was and the likelihood must be that no action will have been taken.

Above is the front cover illustration used by this blogger for a Thomas Paine poem "SUPERGRASS" penned in Las Palmas back in March 2000. The poetic idea was that PAINE had grassed up "old corruption" good and proper back in the 18th century and supergrassing is supposed to be all the rage with the State and establishment - with cops especially and the judicial system. The Council's Street Care Department which largely orchestrates the somewhat discordant so-called COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME (CTS) - and also its rather rarer on-street Public Toilet facilities (only 4 such facilities nowadays still exist across the whole borough) - have now begun - under pressure - to erect "on-street CTS signage" to publicise nearby premises which have toilet facilities which the public can freely use. The above top photo shows one such newly erected CTS sign for THE NOTT - a nearby premises on the Wandsworth Road in the general vicinity of SAINSBURY's and THE SOUTHBANK CLUB.

The above NOTT signage is located at the traffic lights at the Wandsworth Road - Wilcox Road intersection. This development has not been publicised on the Stockwell Labour Party Blog STANDUPFORSTOCKWELL because its practitioners are probably on a lay down and anyway public toilet provision has never been a consistant enthusiasm among those brethen - Stockwell Labour URINE BIKES of course are another matter. Of course to be fair to them tweet tweet tweet what with Maggie Thatcher being laid-up in hospital and their hero War Criminal Tony Blair being recalled by Chilcott they must be preoccupied and worried sick. 'Specially Middlesboro Pete (Bowyer) - he originally forked out 50p to join the Labour Party and times are definitely getting even harder.

There is now off-premises on-street CTS signage for most of the CLAPHAM, STOCKWELL and VAUXHALL premises that offer CTS facilities - in all they total about 13 premises and now all but 4 have nearby on-street signage tho' it's presence is likely only fairly slowly to be espied by the locals for what it actually is. As yet there's no on-street CTS signage for the THIRD SPACE BAR & LOUNGE - a very very recent CTS participant facility - in fact the very very first at CENTRAL STOCKWELL - again no mention of it to date on the STANDUPFORSTOCKWELL (if only!!) BLOG.

Its clear from some of the Animal Rights ephemera items currently being reproduced in the media in reporting the prision sentences dished out to the half dozen or so Animal Rights Anti Huntingdon Life Sciences campaigners that not all examples were intimidatory but were fair comment and ultimately aimed at individuals whose activities were an anathema to the activists concerned. Some of their communications were therefore well within what one should regard as reasonable Free Speech limits.

Sentencing Judge Cutler pontificated that Free Speech is allowed but blah blah blah ... the usual half truths. PEACE NEWS in its recent September edition briefly reported on the case of anti Afghan War Resister Corporal Joe Glenton who got 6 months imprisonment for attending and speaking at an anti war rally and who had refused to return to fight in Afghanistan. Glenton had told how he was not allowed to speak out against the war but that service personel who spoke out in favour of the war were left quite free to do so.

Its the same, to a degree, with this Toilet Watch blog in being outspoken re LAMBETH COUNCIL's now decades long negligence re local central Stockwell public toilet provision - in effect of course non provision. The above role was a "piece of piss" for the ultra Actress- Councillor Baroness Imogen Walker of Larkhall Walled-in Community. Anyway a couple of Fridays ago two unrelated individuals who'd locked their bikes to Sainsbury's BIKE RACKS within the compound just outside the main shop entrance doors got a sequence of bad SAINSBURY's surprises. Both bikes were locked but thieves with bolt cutters showed up and within the space of a minute or two both locks were cut away and the bikes stollen.

Into the shop to report theft to the SECURITY monitor bod just inside the door. He had CCTV footage of both thefts and so advised that the police should be called. So he was asked politely if he'd oblige and call them. Oh no he would not it had to be those who'd suffered the loss. Why so? By way of further explanation he offered that as the theft occured "outside the shop" it had to be the victim call up the cops. He did concede that SAINSBURY's would make CCTV footage available to the police and indeed a few days later SAINSBURY's duly did so.

Anyway if you're laying outside the SAINSBURY's entrance door during opening hours perhaps after shopping inside SAINSBURY's and have had an axe embedded in your napper you will be expected to call the cops yourself because SAINSBURY's Security have had their hands tied - presumably though maybe not - by more senior management. Indeed you could interpret SAINSBURY's call the cops yourselves response as "get knotted".

Last summer < PAUL PAGE > a cop based at Buckingham Palace got sent down. At pass-the-Buck-House he'd had responsibility for a number of years for "security". He got sent down 'cos he'd been involved in massive millions of pounds frauds against friends, family and also his cop-work B P colleagues. The latter even additionally accused him of dealing porn and drugs at B P - re the latter - if true - it was a pity they didn't pipe up long before things came on top re PAGE's unending fraud ops. Says something surely about underlying (no pun intended) cop dispositions. If your deeply aggrieved family name was Tomlinson would you even remotely trust any of these plod if you were on the receiving end of criminal charges or a thug cop fatal bashing??

Last week another big time fraudster < WILLIAM GODLEY > also got sent down - again "BIG" frauds were involved - amounting to some 150 million quid. Many 1000's of investers had lost their life's savings and much hardship had been occasioned.

Then of course also very recently on 2nd August another fraudulent con man < RAYMOND SCOTT > got a dose of porridge. He got 8 years plus. He'd been well involved in trying to flog a rare old much cherished volume of SHAKESPEARE's scribblings. The book had been nicked from a UK university some years earlier - he was not convicted of having swiped-it only of trying to market it, altho' for a biggish slab of USA money - altho' not for an amount as big as either of the above forementioned two fraudsters.

A few pics of those who turned out at very short notice on a working day at Scotland Yard to receive the bowell turning news that not a single cop is being charged in connection with the murderous police attacks made on totally innocent TOMLINSON in LONDON on 1st April 2009. Hey ho it's gone already after just about 12 months in operation - it took about 18 months to install. It has come as something of a shock to find LL actually publishing (as above) a letter about long term lack of public toilet provision - altho' not in Stockwell but in Norwood. LAMBETH LIAR has responded in print too. Of course the LL reply is dripping with unexplained half truths.

LAMBETH COUNCIL does not want to make proper adequate public toilet provision. That is its basic position although it's barely ever stated as such. Instead we have the usual cop-out bullshit about the COMMUNTIY TOILET SCHEME - this is the scheme that no one except this blogger had the honesty to request HYDE SOUTHBANK HOMES to participate in, only to get the Hyde "two fingers" from JONATHAN RADCLIFFE it's official ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR senior offical - see blogspots here for full details. Our 3 local STOCKWELL WARD COUNCILLORS - altho' now on HYDE's "BOARD" - wouldn't broach the subject with HYDE and instead just stayed totally tight lipped. So this BLOGGER did raise the matter. What utter crap Ward Councillors they (PETE BOWYER, ALEX BIGHAM and IMOGEN WALKER) are and they're now all set to do sod all for another 4 years or so. A close associate of theirs has confided that they've got their eyes set on Parliamentary careers and that Stockwell is well down on their real priority list.

This blogger has detailed - see here - an attempt made in January / February 2009 to enrol local central STOCKWELL businesses etc., in the COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME and it was an abject total failure - the shortcomings were detailed on this blog (open above link to scrutinise). Since that failure STOCKWELL LABOUR PARTY has not raised a single finger to provide CENTRAL STOCKWELL public toilets in any shape or form whatsoever. Indeed as previously blogged local LABOUR have remained absolutely tight lipped on the topic and must have deliberately done so simply because it is a matter that they do not want to address. When the Community Toilet Scheme initiative fails in a particular area - as it has here in CENTRAL STOCKWELL - this COUNCIL and STOCKWELL's 3 WARD COUNCILLORS just stay off topic and totally unresponsive. And HYDE SOUTHBANK HOMES in the jargon a major CENTRAL STOCKWELL "stake holder" also stays totally tight lipped too. HYDE pretends to be community sensitive and pro community provision but on this topic they have demonstrated 100 per cent that they have done and are are doing absolutely nothing at all. For HYDE to press publicly for local public toilet provision would put them at odds with their political local authority cronies and the latter do not want to publicly broach the topic and HYDE well knows it.

These factors give the lie to the above reproduced 6 June LAMBETH LIAR pro toilet provision response. The above LAMBETH LIAR response says that the Council will be reviewing the COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME situation in the Crystal Palace area and yet the scheme has been in place for 2 years and the toilets in question have been closed for years - so what has slowed down the CTS review process? Lack of toilet provision commitment - ie., the very same factor that closed the toilets initially - other factors were used simply as an excuse to close them.

The above quite unconnected EVENING STANDARD report (of 14 May) has triggered a kindred 1977 memory and as this blogger was the mid-1970's victim of the OLD BAILEY "bewigged abuser" Neville Sandelson I've decided to produce this commemorative blogspot.

Old fogey Sandelson (then aged 54) is dead now so he's unlikely to repeat his unruly somewhat unique OLD BAILEY leading prosecution counsel courtroom antics. At the time he was also the Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington. In 1981 he defecated to the then newly malformed SDP.

So what were the why's n wherefores of this unruly very very rare OLD BAILEY style bewigged harange.

The 'Seventies were a period in which the Criminal Justice System and especially the misuse by the police, Courts and prosecuting authorities of evidence of identification came in for extreme scrutiny and political criticism by highly motivated campaigning organisations. The issues became extremely touchy politically. Organisations which overlapped in highlighting the shortcomings of the policing, Criminal Justice and the Prison systems made it very plain indeed to those in power that something needed to be done and that the campaigns were not going to go away.

The publication VERBALS (reproduced above) was produced by JUSTICE AGAINST THE IDENTIFICATION LAWS (JAIL). This organisation itself had been spawned by activists and other interests at the heart of radical Prison Reform groups and additonally there'd been prosecutions against PETER HAIN for BANK ROBBERY (1976) and EAST ENDER GEORGE DAVIS for ARMED ROBBERY (1974) - cases in which unreliable IDENTIFICATION EVIDENCE featured and fed the fight back incredibly. Hence the formation of the organisation JAIL. Even the defence campaigns organised around those accused of ANGRY BRIGADE participation significantly focussed political fight back campaigns on policing and the criminal justice system - especially through the UP AGAINST THE LAW COLECTIVE (UPAL).

This blogger - see my blogger "profile" details - was greatly involved in those campaigns and in 1977 was full time secretrary for JAIL's organisation - which necessitated that I liased with those seeking advice in relation to the misuse within the policing and CRIMINAL JUSTICE systems of IDENTIFICATION EVIDENCE. JAIL was a bonafide orgnisatation to whom accused persons could write for help while on remand awaiting trial and when court proceedings such as at the OLD BAILEY fell due JAIL staff from time to time sat in court in the public gallery to listen and bear witness.

Such was the case at the Old Bailey in 1977 when a defendant accused of an Essex Post Office robbery offence stood trial. This defendant had been visited in prison and advised about how the evidence might proceed and this blogger had watched the Old Bailey case for 2 days or so. During this 2 day period there had been recesses when refreshment had been taken in the Old Bailey Refrectory - it became clear that prosecutor Neville Sandelson was well aware that JAIL had been scrutinising the case he was pursuing and during one recess he attempted to converse with this blogger in the Refectory. He was well aware also (being an MP) how politically sensitive in those times identification evidence had become and JAIL was greatly in the forefront so given this he attempted to strike up a passing conversation. This blogger discouraged him by simply replying that he did not to talk.

On the last day in this case that this blogger attended Court SANDELSON had been making his closing speech for the prosecution and had largely finished at mid-day when the court rose for lunch. I stood in the overhead public gallery to file out and SANDELSON still in the well of the court eye balled me and cockily cat-called "Is that alright for you then!" - meaning he'd put in very strong closing case against the accused. I had said absolutely nothing and was very shocked as I had attended courts many times and such an outburst was amazing. I did respond to reply just as I filed out towards the Gallery attendant - I simply asserted "Yes I'll be down your constituency next week" - my meaning being that I would go there to campaign for legal reform of identification evidence useages.

Had lunch and returned to Court at 2pm. I was refused admission to the public gallery because Sandelson had complained about my presence. The brief 1978 report (reproduced above) of this incident retailed in VERBALS (not penned by me) was inaccurate. I was barred but I simply left the Old Bailey precincts. I wouldn't have minded on the one hand having an opportunity to explain to the Court what had actually happened because instead it was acting solely on SANDELSON's verbal but on the other hand I certainly wanted to avoid causing any ongoing problem whatever for the accused. If I had initiated such an exchange I simply don't believe I would not have been done for contempt of court.

Trouble is he's dead wrong - check out the above current reports re imminent public toilet closures and devious machinations in both Harborough and Bournemouth. And for sure clock what local Bournemouth folk have posted in heart felt response to their local authority utterly disreputable manipulations and bullshit.

Here in Central Stockwell we have already gone through the Harborough and Bournemouth trash troughs - Stockwell lost its public toilets 22 years ago in a blatant budget cutting exercise and it was knob head STOCKWELL PARTNERSHIP that subsequently arranged for their demolition and removal. LAMBETH COUNCIL's COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME (CTS) has since provided precisely zero facilities in the Central Stockwell area. In the current run up to the elections (at both National and local government level) for STOCKWELL neither of the main local political no brainer outfits will dare to mention public toilet provision - the nearest the unchanging LIB DEM's can manage is an up-front intention to target DOG POO - believe me you couldn't and don't need to make 'em up they are right here and truly they are absolutely pathetic.

If it's not DOG POO its' pot holes in the roads - if THE SWAN pub were still an 18th century Staging Post maybe pot holed roads might be a fitting public agenda item but you would think that after over a decade of LABOUR government that one way and another pot holes in the road would have long ago been variously dealt with. Not that that stopped him over 27 years later (in 1990) writing a biography in which he openly stated that he'd gone into cells holding law breakers and had told them that if they ever showed up on his patch again he'd kill one or other of them, would take over the murder investigation himself and would manipulate matters so that those still alive would get convicted of the murder that he himself would have committed. This is an ex-Met CID Sergeant boastfully revealing himself even despite having had 27 years in which to re-think and sort himself out. Challenor never did any porridge he simply got the push for being loony - thus the police and political heirarchy saved its bacon as far as it manipulatively could.

Challenor's blatantly uninhibited July 1963 antics came just 4 months almost to the day after a separate set of notorious, violent and disgustingly corrupt cops had been using "rhino whips" (yes rhino whips) in police stations on police suspects to extract "confessions" the police in question being somewhat demoralised because their clear-up rates were poor. And furthermore the officers in question had then recently been re-located into an "elite" police unit - now where have I heard about "elite" police just recently? The above "unoffical" weaponry used by the police had been used previously on suspects, and it was known within police ranks that the weaponry in question was available, and that it was being so used. The attack police in question were CID. They were based in the Sheffield area. When all this shit was hitting the 1963 fan DELROY SMELLIE was to be a brand new human race entrant.

The Sheffield attacks were VERY violent. Indeed one CID brutaliser was so enthused that he removed his own clothing above the waist hoping to inhibit the victim of his attacks the more so by so doing. There was an official investigation into the attacks the details of which were officially reported back - full report available HERE - the "attack" officers had even had the effrontry to appeal against their loss of police employment for having behaved as described. Unsurprisingly their appeals were unsuccessful. Mind you when you read the whole report the hocus pocus police machinations went on at all levels to extricate themselves from this spot of deep dyed dracula in blue.

According to the above mentioned APPEAL report (above) one of the arrested victims was deemed to have been a bit mouthy and upset (see REPORT excerpt reproduced above) at the way he was being held and beaten up (excerpt above) - no doubt the police attacker had been hoping that this explanation would exonerate him. However the above APPEAL report was very specific to point out that that prisoners resentment and verbal protestations were NO justification for the police attacks that had been made upon him. Delroy Smellie new on earth when this POLICE RHINO WHIP report was published fared much better in 2010 as a vicious police "glove in the face" and "ASP" attacker against Nicola Fisher in April 2009 (see previous recent blogspots) when clearly he ought not to have done.

Tonight's London EVENING STANDARD newspaper has run a news feature - HERE - about today's gathering along with ("G20: A YEAR ON") an EDITORIAL criticising the DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS for the so far one year delay in bringing a criminal prosecution against those responsible for TOMLINSON's death. This acknowledged, the wording of the editorial could have been more strongly worded to more fully reflect the unspeakable unaccountablity of the prosecuting authorities. --------------------------TT

Maybe the Westminster Magistrates "DELROY ATTACK DOG SMELLIE" comic opera (in a manner of speaking) will get wrapped up today - it's already over-run its scheduled linolium. Unable to "asp" or break the nose or arms of those attempting to penetrate his secretive frontal lobes he instead confessed to the court that it had been explained to him on a number of occasions by bigger Met Police fishes than he why he'd been suspended from duty after his violent "attack dog" antics at the IAN TOMLINSON "Memorial" demo last year. Trouble is that his frontal lobes had played hard to find - so he just didn't get it - not even to this day as to why he'd been suspended. He's not into acknowledging the situation one little bit - one would have thought that this was hardly the head space for a conscientious sagacious careful cop. And yet this specimen in police estimation is one of the "elite" bright public order policing "attack dogs". Heaven help us with regard to those who are less highly regarded in the police farmyard than dimwit Delroy. Genuine apologies are extended to farm yard animals everywhere.

Immediately above are two items of recent correspondence from this blogger to HYDE which eventually led to the 11th February meeting. Staff employed by the Hyde "YOU talk WE listen" hype-machine are expressly forbidden to open any info which requires them to open "web" links - so if it's blogged information it can ONLY be communicated if already copied and pasted to them by hard mail or by email already fully formatted - thus it was that enclosed with the 2nd of the above two communications sections of the recent TOILET WATCH blogspot texts - HERE - were also enclosed to draw them to Hyde's attention for consideration and hopefully further clarification.

These enclosures had included details of the activities of Alex Bigham, the STOCKWELL LABOUR PARTY Secretary (and also a local LABOUR PARTY BLOGGER) who in early 2009 had unsuccessfully tried to enrol local Central Stockwell outlets into the COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME. Bigham is now a HYDE BOARD member and a curious feature of the Bigham 2009 initiative had been that HYDE was a glaring omission from the local outlets that he'd approached. He had been sent subsequent reminders about approaching Hyde - so too had other local LABOUR PARTY worthies (including another Hyde Board member Councillor BOWYER) but a total non-responsive silence had continued to reign - so one hope was that the above correspondence with HYDE would produce enlightenment.

So why wasn't HYDE being approached re CTS participation? The above reproduced correspondence was acknowledged with an email (27 January) indicating that a "FULL REPORT" would be made in 10 days. The "FULL REPORT" report (contained in an email dated 3rd Feb) - as also reproduced above - was hardly FULL and it introduced even more intrigue. Not least because it contained a totally puzzling and incorrect statement that this blogger had previously given HYDE to understand that misuse of the Studley Estate Memorial Garden area (top foto above) anti socially as a public toilet was a predominantly "NIGHT TIME ECONOMY" phenomina. This was absolutely incorrect - because prior to the 2/11 meeting there had never been a single face to face conversation about lack of local public toilets in any context with the said official. Indeed this claim in the FULL REPORT (so-called) was so erroneous that it was suspected that HYDE had a further unstated dovetail motive for the suggestion - which it does seem to have had because HYDE was to repeat the claim that its opening hours made Hyde unfit to enrol as a COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME participant (see below). In fact during the 2/11 meeting totally out of the blue HYDE's official suddenly observed that electronic pop up urinals were a good development. It was acknowledged in reply that they were okay but had short comings - (1) they only popped up for about a few hours late at night, (2) only at weekends and (3) were a zero option for women. Again Hyde steering the agenda to the night time economy into a time zone when its office was closed.

An objection raised by HYDE on 2/11 to its CTS participation concerned HYDE's opening hours - its official simply stated that they were too brief to make particiption worthwhile - presumably that is if they were sympathetic to participation which of course they were not. Mind you throughout the meeting from time to time HYDE stated that it had not reached any decison on participation!!! This rather seemed like operation double bluff - the so-called FULL REPORT official had to be pressed to explain what efforts he had actually made to enquire into HYDE's disposition re participation. He then duly felt pressured enough to concede okay he had had discussions with HYDE's Managing Director. And HYDE BOARD members had they been contacted consulted or had any imput? "This is not a matter for consideration at BOARD level".

It remains curious that 2 years after the COMMUNITY TOILET SCHEME was initiated and despite one STOCKWELL WARD COUNCILLOR being a HYDE BOARD MEMBER throughout - and all the many communications and missives sent via this blogger in their directions HYDE SOUTHBANK HOMES had allegedly given no consideration to the problems arising from lack of local public toilet provision. It is hardly believeable though it is possible that in reality HYDE was so anti participation that it wanted to keep its head well down.

HYDE's spokesperson at 2/11 meeting has primary HYDE responsibility for anti social behaviour and lack of public toilet provision is clearly a seriously exacerbating local factor and HYDE ought to have been - and ought now to be - in the running publicly so that improvments are made. So far as is known HYDE has been totally rigor mortis in these regards. And so far as the misuse of the Studley Estate Trees for Shities area (top foto above) is concerned Hyde maintained that CTS non participation wasn't relevant because those who publicly relieve themselves would simply never use CTS facilities even if they existed - period. No wonder HYDE is so inclined to do zero about non provision. Mind you it could additionally be that they don't want to publicly put pressure on a Borough Council that doesn't want to make provision. HYDE did state under pressure on 2/11 that public toilet provision was a Local Authority responsibility as distinct from theirs - that was being said somewhat cowardly in just a small room with only two persons present - its never been and is not being addressed by them more publicly. You notice that in the "FULL REPORT" HYDE emailed text above that it does not include the observation that Public Toilet provision is a Local Authority not a HYDE responsibility.

HYDE maintains that it would not particpate in the CTS scheme because its opening hours (detailed in its 3rd Feb FULL REPORT email - as above) are too short. Its official clearly expressed bemusement at the prospect of participation because he simply could not imagine who would want to use HYDE's toilet facility even if participation were agreed - he simply could not forsee that anyone would use it. He stated with studied careful pronounciation that HYDE "res-id-ents" could use their foyer area facility but he was immediately absolutely dead set against HYDE publicising that availability when it was suggested that that would inform those HYDE "residents" who might find the information helpful.

The further intriguing and clearly contrasting feature related to the early 2009 CTS invites sent around Central Stockwell by ALEX BIGHAM - who is now a HYDE BOARD member - is that among those he then invited without success were the local POST OFFICE, the very small chemist actually inside Stockwell Underground Station, the NAT WEST BANK just across the road and the vetinary practice opposite the Clock Tower - some interesting "opening hours" opportunities were implicit with these invites - never mind more honest and not just make believe convenient negative factors - the full BIGHAM invite list is HERE.

Perhaps HYDE and BOARD member BIGHAM should confer although perhaps that is expecting too much.
